It’s that time of the year again! Television shows will be finding their way back into our small screens this coming month of September; and I for one don’t want to miss a single moment! E! Online recently published their Fall TV Calendar. I’ve only put the shows I tune in to and the new shows I might check out… after consultation with the annual EW Fall TV Preview issue. Okay, maybe I won’t get to watch ALL of these shows; but I do promise to try. A much more comprehensive list of shows is available from the source (link below); but I’ve chosen the new shows I will probably check out and the returning shows that I would not dare miss.
The Making of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Sunday, June 6, NBC
This special is a sneak peek into the Harry Potter Theme Park which opened its doors to the public recently. Do I have to further explain why I want to watch this? Of course not.
The Hard Times of RJ Berger
Sunday, June 6, MTV
It’s basically “Hung” for the younger set; but I’m hoping there will be more to the show than that. I’m looking for a smart, teen comedy to replace “10 Things I Hate About You” since it was abruptly canceled.

Pretty Little Liars
Tuesday, June 8, ABC Family
It’s yet another adaptation of a bestselling young adult series; but I can’t get enough of them. I’m definitely watching this one.
True Blood
Sunday, June 13, HBO
Season three is here! After an awesome sophomore season with a slightly disappointing finale that had a pretty interesting cliffhanger, I’m still a huge fan who’s awaiting new episodes. Bring them on!
Make It or Break It
Monday, June 29, ABC Family
Yes, I watch this show about gymnasts and their journey to making it into the 2012 Olympics. It’s interesting and entertaining for me, okay? Anyway, the series continues after the last episode left me hanging and wanting more.

White Collar
Tuesday, July 13, USA Network
I haven’t exactly gotten all caught up with the first season finale; but this show is definitely a must-watch.
Psych
Wednesday, July 13, USA Network
Yet another series I have to catch up to. I do miss these guys; and if you are loving this series, do catch the new season.

Mad Men
Friday, July 25, AMC
I’m only halfway through the third season; so I have to catch up before new episodes come around. I’m hearing great things about the season that just ended; so I really have to stay current if I want to see what the fourth season has in store.
Of course, there are more shows in store in the coming months before the regular TV season kick starts again. Feel free to check out more shows at the source link below.

For those of you who are still confused, here’s the breakdown of the One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl and Life UneXpected schedules next year… courtesy of thetvaddict.com
It all begins…
January 18 (Monday)
8pm ONE TREE HILL
9pm LIFE UNEXPECTED *series premiere
Schedule shift starts on…
March 8 (Monday)
8pm LIFE UNEXPECTED
9pm GOSSIP GIRL
After Life UneXpected airs 13 episodes…
8pm ONE TREE HILL
9pm GOSSIP GIRL
I don’t know if this will work; but I really hope Life UneXpected performs well. It looks like a show I could really love.
It’s the middle of August and a lot is coming up in the next few weeks. The summer season is winding down so this means finales are just around the corner. Right after that, there will be new seasons of my favorite shows and a bunch of series premieres! Here’s just some of the things worth looking forward to:
True Blood
season finale: September 13
This season has been so addictive. It surpassed the intrigue that was the first season with its new characters, new vampire mainstays (I can’t stop gushing about Eric), and the impending war between vampires and humans. Mary Ann might have become a bit tiring after a while, but the rest of the goodness more than made up for it.
The last episode was really a question of whether a full out war is about to blow up. There are four more episodes to the season so we know there’s still a lot of things that could still happen.
Top Chef Masters
season finale: August 19
This is the first time I watched a Top Chef season from start to finish. It’s down to Rick Bayless, Hubert Keller and Michael Chiarello. I’m cheering Hubert Keller because I think he’s a really cool guy, Rick Bayless next, third Michael Chiarello. Wherever this may go, I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a delicious finale.
Mad Men
season premiere: August 16
Last season ended with Sterling Cooper being bought out by another agency, Betty having a short rendezvous with a stranger while carrying a baby, Don going through some weird experiences with a couple of hedonistic strangers and Peggy telling Pete about their baby, among other things. What else this show has in store this season, I don’t really know; but I can’t wait to see what happens.
Greek
season premiere: August 31
This is simply a fun show to watch; and I really wanna know: Will Cappie and Casey EVER get together again? Ever?
Glee
series premiere: September 9
The anticipation for new episodes has been building for quite a while now. Expectations are high; and I’m confident that the show is going to deliver. With its catchy songs, witty dialogue and talented cast, this so far the new show I’m looking forward to the most.
These are, of course, stuff that’s off the top of my head. There’s still the Fall TV Previews coming up so I could pick which shows spark my curiosity and which shows I’m returning to.
Thanks to The TV Addict‘s March 2009 TV calendar, we know exactly what to expect this month. There are a number of sweeps stunts coming our way (Please refer to our crash course # 1 to understand what "sweeps" is. Plus, an answer to why it’s March sweeps this year and not the usual February sweeps.). Also, there are a couple of series and season premieres on the horizon. Here are some of the highlights:
March 3
Reaper returns to The CW for a second season!
I really missed this show. The latter part of the first season has gotten really interesting; and my brother and his wife are just getting into it. So there’s really no choice but to get the latest episodes.
March 5
[edited]
We meet the 12 finalists of American Idol season 8.
After this Wednesday’s results show, Thursday will be the Wild Card Round. Each judge gets to pick 2 contestants from the Top 36. They will perform and the final three finalists will be chosen by the judges on the same night. Exciting!
March 9
Summer Glau guest stars on The Big Bang Theory as herself.
The geeks are gonna go crazy over this Terminator star and I can’t wait to see what happens!
March 15
It’s the series premiere of Kings.
I’m not so sure what this show is about; but there’s some buzz. I’m just being the usual TV drone that I am.
March 16
Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill return.
It’s been a long couple of weeks since we last saw a new episode. I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Seriously. Everyone’s been asking me where the new episodes are. They’re finally back!
March 18
Better Off Ted premieres on ABC.
I’ve seen the promo; and I think it’s a good, quirky comedy that probably won’t be appreciated by most Americans (i.e. Arrested Development). Still, I love these kinds of shows; and I’m hoping audiences will wise up and watch it.
March 20
It’s the series finale of Battlestar Galactica.
I know I haven’t gotten all caught up; but this means I can buy the complete series on DVD soon (original, of course!).
March 30
Greek returns for a new season!
I missed this show a lot. It’s one of those light and fun shows that I really enjoy. Plus, last season’s cliffhanger really threw me. I have to know what happens next.
March 31
Cupid premieres!!!
It’s finally here! Rob Thomas’ second chance at making his old creation a hit… I really hope it’s as good, if not better, than the original. Please!
Over the past month, I’ve just been winging my episode watching… seeing what’s available, getting them, watching them… Then I just catch up on what I missed during the weekend. With my calendar of activities currently clear over the next couple of days, I finally found the time to use my trusty Entertainment Weekly Fall TV Preview 2008 issue to organize my TV schedule. Here are the chosen ones (in no particular order)…
| MONDAY Desperate Housewives Dexter True Blood Mad Men TUESDAY WEDNESDAY |
THURSDAY Pushing Daisies Dirty Sexy Money Friday Night Lights Project Runway FRIDAY SATURDAY LOCAL |
* still catching up from the previous season, but will definitely watch current season
** still deciding if I should watch current season
*** don’t have AXN
Currently, Monday shows (which is Tuesday for me) win this year. I have seven shows there which I should never miss every single week. I wonder when Monday started becoming must-see TV…
Of course, this list isn’t set in stone. As I’ve noted, there are a few shows where I’m still undecided. Also, there are a number of new shows there; and I have yet to drop one of them (except for 90210). Only time will tell which ones will be IN… and which ones will be OUT.
For now… yeah… This is it. Thoughts? Violent reactions? Feel free to suggest some shows. I’m always open to these kinds of things.
It’s officially September. Many of the shows I love are going to roll out new episodes; and new shows are premiering left and right. I’ve been quite busy the past week; but now I’m free. This means that there’s a lot of catching up to do. Anyway, I found a great source for fall TV premiere dates; so I hope this will serve as a guide on what and when to expect this month. Enjoy watching.
Thanks to ONTD for the source!
Oh, and I can’t wait for the Fall TV Preview issue of Entertainment Weekly. This year, I haven’t been keeping track that much; so I want to get hold of this guide as soon as possible. Take a look at this year’s cover/s.

TV Calendar Update
Just wanted to share some premiere dates with you:
Chuck has premiered last April 21 on C/S. It’s on Mondays at 8pm.
Aliens in America premieres May 2 on JackTV.
Pushing Daisies premieres May 6 on 2nd Avenue.
Pretty Old News But Needs to be Mentioned
Friday Night Lights officially has a third season thanks to a joint partnership between NBC and DirecTV. It will air first on DirecTV; and NBC will air them in January 2009. I don’t care how they worked out the kinks here; but I’m just happy that this show gets to have another chance. It’s just absolutely amazing week after week; and I couldn’t imagine it ending the way season two ended.
Shows that won’t be coming back ’til the next season: Chuck, Pushing Daisies, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice (which I won’t be watching anymore), Heroes, and most importantly… Friday Night Lights. We all have a long wait ahead of us. I just hope they’re all worth it… and that I don’t forget anything that’s happened.
The CW is currently developing a remake of Beverly Hills 90210 featuring a whole new cast of characters (for the YouTube generation) living in the same famous zip code. When news first broke, the network was reportedly looking at Rob Thomas to head the show; but since then he has backed out simply because he’s working on two pilots for ABC… One of which is a reimagination of his short-lived but wonderful show Cupid. (Can I just say this guy’s like Josh Schwartz last year?) I’m simply happy for the guy. He’s behind the masterpiece that is Veronica Mars so if he has the good fortune of developing two shows in one go, then I’m all for it.
Not Really News… Some Rants or Raves or Random Thoughts
The last episode of American Idol I watched in its entirety was the Mariah Carey week; and until now, I haven’t gotten over how good David Cook’s rendition of “Always Be My Baby” was and is. It’s practically on repeat in my player. Love it! It has got to be the two Davids in the finale or there’s gonna be a public outcry.
Since Britney Spears’ guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother, I’ve been reading that the show’s ratings have picked up. Is this it? Have people finally realized how great this show is? Well, it’s about time! It’s been three frickin’ seasons! And oh yeah, Robin Sparkles part two? Not as great as part one; but considering that it tanked (in TV reality), it had to be less interesting than “Let’s Go to the Mall.”
Gossip Girl is mixing things up pretty extremely in the latest episodes. The scandals and developments are as juicy as ever. I hate social-climbing Jenny now more than ever; and I’m loving the new “evil” that is Georgina Sparks. She makes Blair look like an angel.
I’ve got a lot more on my mind; but that’s it for now. Keep watching!
Thanks to EW.com and Ausiello Report we now have an unofficial guide to how the rest of the TV season looks. Here’s a rundown of the shows I watch, when they’re returning and how many episodes they plan on airing.
