Mars On TV – reaper

march tv : what to look forward to

Thanks to The TV Addict‘s March 2009 TV calendar, we know exactly what to expect this month. There are a number of sweeps stunts coming our way (Please refer to our crash course # 1 to understand what "sweeps" is. Plus, an answer to why it’s March sweeps this year and not the usual February sweeps.). Also, there are a couple of series and season premieres on the horizon. Here are some of the highlights:

March 3
Reaper returns to The CW for a second season!
I really missed this show. The latter part of the first season has gotten really interesting; and my brother and his wife are just getting into it. So there’s really no choice but to get the latest episodes.

March 5
[edited]
We meet the 12 finalists of American Idol season 8.
After this Wednesday’s results show, Thursday will be the Wild Card Round. Each judge gets to pick 2 contestants from the Top 36. They will perform and the final three finalists will be chosen by the judges on the same night. Exciting!

March 9
Summer Glau guest stars on The Big Bang Theory as herself.
The geeks are gonna go crazy over this Terminator star and I can’t wait to see what happens!

March 15
It’s the series premiere of Kings.
I’m not so sure what this show is about; but there’s some buzz. I’m just being the usual TV drone that I am.

March 16
Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill return.
It’s been a long couple of weeks since we last saw a new episode. I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Seriously. Everyone’s been asking me where the new episodes are. They’re finally back!

March 18
Better Off Ted premieres on ABC.
I’ve seen the promo; and I think it’s a good, quirky comedy that probably won’t be appreciated by most Americans (i.e. Arrested Development). Still, I love these kinds of shows; and I’m hoping audiences will wise up and watch it.

March 20
It’s the series finale of Battlestar Galactica.
I know I haven’t gotten all caught up; but this means I can buy the complete series on DVD soon (original, of course!).

March 30
Greek returns for a new season!
I missed this show a lot. It’s one of those light and fun shows that I really enjoy. Plus, last season’s cliffhanger really threw me. I have to know what happens next.

March 31
Cupid premieres!!!
It’s finally here! Rob Thomas’ second chance at making his old creation a hit… I really hope it’s as good, if not better, than the original. Please!

TV in 2008

28 December 2007

With the impending scarcity of new episodes due to the writers’ strike, I’m focusing my attention elsewhere… local television and local cable. There’s a lot of changes going on; and I wouldn’t want to miss out. I’ll keep you updated; but here’s what’s worth knowing for now:

Solar channels are moving to FREE TV. Clearly, Solar Entertainment realized that without the subscriber base of Sky Cable, they might not be able to maintain the viewer base they currently have. So, effective 01/01/08, ETC will be seen on SBN 21, C/S will be on RPN 9 and 2nd Avenue will transfer to RJTV 29. I don’t know where JackTV is moving to at the moment (or if they’re going to free TV); so if anyone can inform me, please leave a comment. Check your channel guide for more information.

Moving In To JackTV. Speaking of Jack, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Saturday Night Live are moving to JackTV. New shows The Big Bang Theory, Aliens in America and Pushing Daisies will be moving in as well.

Sky Cable’s New Channels. Velvet is geared towards the female audience; and so far, the only shows worth watching here are The Soup, So You Think You Can Dance and reruns of America’s Next Top Model. I don’t really like The View or Good Morning America that much. The former has women that are too talkative for their own good; and the latter is a bit more serious than The Today Show (which is a morning show I like). However, if you don’t mind old episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond & Charmed and a new show Life Is Wild which no one’s talking about, then knock yourselves out with this channel. Oh, and New Years’ Eve, they’re airing Justin Timberlake’s Futuresex/Loveshow Concert; so watch out for that.
Maxxx is another channel; and it skews towards the male audience. The only show I like here is Attack of the Show, which is a gadgets / technology / pop culture / anything in between show. Other thanthat… ho-hum.
Other channels that are coming are Balls, KidsCo, FoxCrime and AXN Beyond.

Where Some Shows I Like/Love Will Be At. New shows are coming to Asia; and I’m beyond thrilled to deliver the latest news:
* Reaper and Dirty Sexy Money will be on Studio 23.
* Dexter will be on Fox Crime.
* Damages will be on AXN starting January 8 at 10pm.
* As mentioned earlier, The Big Bang Theory, Aliens in America and Pushing Daisies will be on JackTV.

TV NOTES: Random Shows, Random Thoughts

27 October 2007

Gosh, I’m watching too many shows… I don’t even know which ones to recap anymore. I’m not complaining. I love the shows this year. Getting caught up is a fun thing to do; but recapping them has become harder than ever. So here’s a random shows, random thoughts entry… featuring the first things that come to mind when I think about the last episode I watched.

Desperate Housewives “If There’s Anything I Can’t Stand”
– I love how pathetic Susan is with the gay couple who just moved in.
– I’m loving where this season is going.

Aliens in America “The Metamorphosis”
- Funny funny episode… I’m really liking Raja because I appreciate his sincerity and honesty.
- I’m hoping this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Anita.

Chuck “Chuck Versus The Sizzling Shrimp”
- Fun fun Chinese kicking ass fun… Wait, isn’t that woman also “Mey Ling” in Desperate Housewives?
- Not much Chuck/Sarah this episode; but it’s great Morgan and Chuck’s sister are getting along.

How I Met Your Mother “How I Met Everyone Else”
- Really funny. Made us get to know more about the characters and how they met.
- Love the Hot-Crazy scale… And the “blah-blah” name.
- The whole sandwich=weed cover-up. HI-larious.

Samantha Who? “The Job”
- Sam trying to figure out what her job was made for some funny scenes.
- Christina Applegate definitely has a knack for comedy. We love her.

House “Guardian Angels”
- Love House’s bits imitating reality television.
- Sad the old non-doctor guy had to go. He was really good.

Reaper “What About Blob?”
- The sweater vessel, funny as hell (and that wasn’t a pun).
- The devil seriously makes me laugh one minute and creeps me out the next. He’s scary that way and I like it.

Gossip Girl “The Handmaiden’s Tale”
- Vanessa seems cool. Totally far from the books; but I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
- They’re saying this is a set-up episode; so I’m excited to watch what it leads to.

30 Rock “Rosemary’s Baby”
– Awesome performance by Alec Baldwin as Jack trying to do Tracy’s entire family. *worship*
– Carrie Fisher playing crazy. Awesome.

Scrubs “My Own Worst Enemy”
- I’m just so glad this show’s back.

Friday Night Lights “Are You Ready for Friday Night?”
- LOVE this episode.
- Connie Britton = *worship*
- The coach is coming back! The coach is coming back!

Moonlight “Fever”
- Pretty good episode. Now, Beth is more part of Mick than ever before.
- No Jason Dohring… awww…

FALL TV: Reaper

11 September 2007

I liked the pilot. It’s a very “guy” type of show, but it’s fun. It reminded me of Ghostbusters a lot. But I don’t know why they had to recast Nikki Reed for that stiff girl from Heroes. Anyway, here’s another new show.
